Lágrimas NegrasMiguel Matamoros was a Cuban composer, singer and founding director of the famous Trio Matamoros. Lagrimas Negras is a bolero-son, written in 1930 while he was visiting Santo Domingo. The "bolero" as a genre was born in Cuba’s eastern city of Santiago. The "son" can be considered the predecessor of "salsa". In the music of the "Vieja Trova Santiaguera", the troubadors from Santiago, Cuba use guitars, percussion and vocals to richly blend and capture the 'son' style of music. |
